Severe Marital Problems

There is actually a man whose wife divorced him because she wanted to own a house in her name only. She agrees to visit her “ex” but only for sexual intimacy. He consents but understandably wants to be married to her. How to advise him?

The best advice for this man is for him to pray. Either his marital problems will be resolved or they won’t, unfortunately. Although there are only two grounds for divorce (Matt. 5:32; 19:9; 1 For.7:15; 1 Tim 5:8), I believe prayerful and strong efforts toward reconciliation should come first. Sexual intimacy, in the case of this man, isn’t the solution. Technically, they’re still married because they had no biblical grounds for divorce. The man must confess any wrongdoing to God and then to each other, repent, apologize, and be determine to get reconciled. Both must be willing or it’s hopeless. Ultimately, it’s all in God’s hands.

Blessings!
