Restoration is Uplifting

A friend and colleague of mine who is a well-known public figure recently resigned his pastorate due to his indiscretion, aka, sin. It’s heartbreaking whenever any Christian leader’s good reputation is tarnished but more so when it’s an acquaintance. However, I proposed to a mutual friend. I said, “I really hope that a letter be drafted representing all concerned brothers to let (our brother) know that we forgive him, love him, pray for him, and stand by to provide any spiritual encouragement for him and his wife. It should include all our signatures.”

“I’m aware that whatever sin was committed will inevitably bring consequences, even if or when there's repentance, but spiritual restoration followed by repentance is always a better and uplifting experience. Biblical examples of restoration (Moses, Samson, David, and Peter), I believe, are given “for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. (Rom. 15:4). We don’t want my friend or any other brother, public figure or not, who sins to lose hope, but we do want him to stop sinning.”

Thus, we need each other’s prayers. 🙏🏾❤️

Blessings!
