Outranking Angels

I was asked about the believers’ bodies after death and will believers then outrank angels in heaven. My answer was as follows: “Our bodies will be glorified only at the rapture. Afterwards, we’ll return with Christ to reign with Him during the millennium followed by the Great White Throne judgment. Most likely, it’ll be at that time we will judge angels (1 Cor. 6:3). Those will be fallen angels, and thus the passage implies our future power over them. However, it isn’t scripturally clear to me that believers will outrank the elect (good) angels, though they are “all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1:14). Angels and saints are now worshiping before God’s throne seemingly as equals (Revelation 4 and 5). Perhaps the point can be made that since Christ is the Creator of angels and thus far more powerful and better than they (Matt. 26:53; Heb. 1:5-14) and since we are in Christ, then,in that sense, we are “higher” than the good angels. More important than that, though, is the idea of what Jesus said to His disciples: “The seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’ And He said to them, ‘I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven'” (Luke 10:17-20). I hope that helps. Blessings!“

As you can tell, I enjoy sharing Q & A’s, issues, and devotional thoughts. Pat is saving them for my webpage which is under construction. Unless you indicate that you prefer not to receive anymore, I’ll gladly keep sharing them. Blessings!
