Discernment and Freedom in Christ

Recently, some of my dear brothers were divided over Christians wearing tattoos. It became a “hot potato” topic.
My response was the following:
I would suggest the following:
Study the origin and history of tattoos.
Take notes.
Then scan the scriptures for every passage you can find on tattoos and Christian liberty.
Write them down.
Be intellectually honest, keeping in mind that all of the “Thou shalt nots” don’t mean “Thou shalt go ahead and do or practice” all that’s not mentioned, and that all of the “thou shalt do” don’t mean “everybody shalt do them.” Let’s discuss this matter at our next 4th Saturday fellowship.
Our wise God has implemented balanced in His laws. Although we’re not under the Law, we live by the moral and ethical principles of it in the power of the Holy Spirit. Plus, the New Testament is permeated with those principles. Yes, we struggle
(Rom. 7:7-25; Gal. 5:16-26), but there’s always a way to escape the trap IF WE WANT TO DO SO (1 Cor. 10:13). Our biggest struggle is with the devil and his henchman/angels (Eph. 6:10-18). Remember, the devil is very religious and may have been a musician before he fell from heaven (Ezek. 28:13), but there’s no absolute proof of that. Yet, his influence penetrates every human mind and location on earth. Even his followers use the name of Jesus in their preaching, in fake exorcism, and in working fake miracles (Matt. 7:22-23). If we don’t pray and study God’s word, we will lack spiritual discernment, being deceived by Satan to believe God approves of “spiritual things” that’s not of Him. We should all enjoy our liberty in Christ and be discerning in our choices.
Blessings!
