My Perspective of Blacks the 1960’s

I enjoy sharing what I'm learning about black history, culture, and current issues. They are eye-opening for me, and I hope for other blacks as well, regardless of any differences we may hold. As the scriptures say in Proverbs 27:17, "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."
I have to admit that my heart aches when I hear my fellow blacks, especially believers, inadvertently justify the negative impact the 1960's had and still have on the black family. I lived during those years. The government became the god of the black family and nearly destroyed it. I didn't realize it then, but as I reflect on those years, the Viet Nam War (unjustified) drugs, fatherless homes, welfare, promiscuity, shacking, and working single moms devastated many black families. It was traumatic for me and many of my black friends who grew up in unstable homes. Only the Lord delivered me from a life that would have destroyed me. Some of my high-school mates didn't live beyond 20 and many didn't beyond 25. Today, most are in bad health, but some are believers. 🙌🏾
What's left for me, this 1965 high school graduate? I'm telling people about Jesus and teaching believers His word. If I can't do that, I'm ready to go be with Him.
Blessed be His name!
