Whenever I hear of a brother or a sister having yielded to temptation of any kind, I cringe because I realize how easy it is for me to do the same. I’d like to believe that I’ll never yield to Satan’s temptation, always walk in victory, and maintain a good testimony for the Lord’s glory. However, I realize that failure is always “knocking” at my front and back door. The temptation to sin is constantly “lying at the door” (Genesis 4:7). Thankfully, when surrounded by intense temptation, “God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it”

(1 Cor. 10:13). The question is, will I always use that “way of escape?”

One of the prayers I pray for myself is "Cleanse me from secret faults.

Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer" (Ps. 19:12b-14).

I mentioned this because recently a dear brother who is a highly respected Bible teacher and historian failed morally, being married and had an affair. His good reputation has been ruined. I prayed that the Lord restore him back into fellowship with Himself. That’s what I would want for me if I were to disgraced the Lord’s name.

My testimony is “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). Amen.

Blessings!
