Is The Church Insane?

A brother texted:

“It is said that if you do the same thing and expect a different result, it's insanity. Does that mean today's church is insane?”

He was referring to the church’s business-as-usual and nonchalant attitude. Here’s my response:

(My brother), To answer your question about the church being insane, note what Jesus said about the church over 2 thousand years ago:

"Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see" (Rev. 3:17-18). So, looking at church history, can we say the church has come to its senses by now? It's amazing to me that the more theological training is taught, the more senseless are many church leaders. I learned this as a young minister in the early 70s, and it hasn't gotten better. So, my strong aim has always been and always will be to evangelize the lost and promote spiritual growth in the church for the glory of God. I may be insane to the world but not to my Lord!

Blessings!
