Excommunication is Biblical

“Excommunicate” means “banish” or “expel.” This is a “foreign” practice among contemporary churches. As I reflected on 1 Cor. 5:9-13, my mind was fixed on verse 13 - "God will judge those outside. 'Expel the wicked person from among you.'" As best as I can understand the passage, it says God will judge "those outside" (unsaved/condemned ones). On the other hand, the church is to expel"

(excommunicate) the wicked person" according to 1 Cor. 5:3-5. That's using context to get the correct interpretation.

I'm opened to being corrected.

Blessings!
