Coping With the Loss of a Loved One

Recently, I eulogized three persons, all believers, who were close to my heart.

One was a dear sister-in-Christ (March), my brother (April 6), and a 95 year-old fellow laborer in the ministry (April 21). I never fail to share the gospel because it’s “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…” (Rom. 1:16).

My prayer for the families is that the Lord will fill their emptiness, left by their loved one’s departure, with His grace to help them through the days ahead. I also pray that they wisely ponder the memories, even when certain thoughts bring tears of joy or tears of sadness. It's the complete and healthy process of grieving over the permanent absence from earth of a loved one. The good news is that because of our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we will rejoin our saved loved ones eventually, but the most important Person we will want to see face to face will be Jesus Himself.

Blessings!
