Suffering for Christ
This report reminds me of what Jesus said:
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (John 15:18-19).
It’s not possible for the world (Satan’s system) to love us unless by a special providential act of our sovereign God that allows us some favor from it (Ps. 115:3; Prov. 16:7; 21:1).
This kind of favor was given to
1. Abraham
2. Joseph
3. Jeremiah
4. Daniel and the three Hebrew boys
5. Nehemiah
6. Esther
7. Paul
8. Martin Luther, the reformer
There were exceptions, of course, as we’re told in Hebrews 11:35b-40 that not all the saints got special favor. Many were tortured.
So, that young lady needs to stay strong, as we all do, no matter what. We should trust our sovereign God who holds us in His hands and knows what’s best for us and how much we can bear (1 Cor. 13:10).
